Skinceuticals Retinol 0.5% is a highly effective multi-tasking skincare product that has been shown in clinical studies to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and age spots, as well as minimise pores and improve skin texture. This particular product has a more concentrated form of retinol and so is only available through medical led clinics following a consultation.
There is difference between over the counter retinols and cosmeceutical grade retinols. At Skinora our medical experts carefully select only those retinols that deliver results.
Cosmeceutical s grade retinols are required to be 99% pure in their formulations; over the counter or shop bought retinols aren't held to the same standards. Because of its higher retinol concentration and high quality formulation Skinceuticals retinol 0.5% is highlyeffective.
First start by prepping your skin with an effective cleanser and pat face dry. Follow on with any corrective products that you had been advised to use. Ensure your face is fully dry before applying retinol.
Next it is important to protect the most delicate areas of your face such as the corners of the mouth the sides of the nose and the under eye areas. We recommend first applying a small amount of moisturiser or Vaseline to these areas to act as a barrier and so prevent retinol from collecting in these areas and causing irritation. Depending on whether you are a new retinol user or an experienced retinol user how often you apply retinol will vary.
You can then apply a pea sized amount of retinol to the cheeks, chin, forehead and nose.
Take care to avoid the delicate areas where you would have applied moisturiser or vaseline.
Gently massage the retinol in.
Always apply retinol at night because it can be inactivated by sunlight.
There are many benefits of using cosmeceutical grade retinol. With continued and consistent useage you should start seeing improvement in your skin such as an improvement in the youthfulness of skin, improved skin elasticity, decrease in fine lines and
wrinkles and a smoother complexion. Higher strength retinols can also improve the appearance of acne scars.
The frequency will depend on your skin’s current condition and tolerance. If you are new to using a skinceuticals retinol 0.5% it is advised you start by using a pea sized amount once or twice a week.A little goes a long way with this stronger retinol concentration so start slow.
Once skin tolerates this (no redness or irritation) you can gradually increase it to using every other night or every night provided your skin is comfortable with use.
