Common skincare mistakes to avoid

When it comes to skincare, we all want the same thing: clear, glowing and healthy skin. With everyone having the same goal, you’d think it would be super easy to achieve, but with endless amounts of info and product recommendations out there, it can be a total minefield. If you’re sticking diligently to your regime but are not seeing the results, here are three common skincare mistakes that you may be making:

1. Applying your products in the wrong order

To give our skin everything it needs, we need a complete regime of products; there’s no such thing as a one-product-wonder. Each of these products needs to be applied in a specific order to allow them to penetrate efficiently and deliver visible results. Layer in terms of texture, starting from thinnest to thickest.

2. Mismatched ingredients

From retinol to vitamin C, glycolic acid to niacinamide, there are a whole host of wonder ingredients out there, but that doesn’t mean you need every single one in your regime. Loading on too many powerful actives at once can overwhelm and sensitise the skin, while some ingredients can actually cancel each other out.

3. Not using the right products for your skin concern

Your friend may have found a serum that transformed their ultra-dry skin, but that doesn’t mean you can expect the exact same results on your oily, acne-prone skin. Our skin has unique needs and requires a combination of products that tackle its individual concerns.
