Developed in the USA by clinicians and dermatologists in 2005, CeraVe Skincare is a unique skincare system that uses the skin’s own defence system, ceramide, to enhance and improve the texture and quality of the skin.
Skin naturally contains ceramide – it makes up around half of your skin’s protective barrier and defends the skin against everyday damage from pollution, dirt, and exposure to UV rays. However, over-exposure can easily damage this protective mantle and cause rashes, dry and irritated skin or dull, lifeless skin.
To fight back and to reinforce that natural protective layer, CeraVe Skincare products contain a combination of three essential ceramides – ceramides 1, 3 and 6-II, as well as essential fatty acids and other lipids.
CeraVe Skincare has created a unique system called MultiVesicular Emulsion Technology (MVE), which releases hydrating ingredients over 24 hours to keep skin healthy and supple, as well as reinforcing that natural ceramide barrier.
