4 Secrets to Sun Kissed Skin

The holiday season is a time to relax, unwind and forget the general chores that come with everyday life. But, even on holiday, you can’t afford to neglect your skin. Making sure you care for your skin if you’re heading to sunnier climes, will only result in beautiful skin when you come home, and for years to come.
Here are a few tips for sun-kissed skin, this summertime.
Stay moisturised
Retain that all-important moisture in your skin by moitsurising twice a day. This helps repair your skin barrier and those with a high SPF help prevent sun damage (though you should still be wearing sunscreen too). Feeding your skin with moisture after a day in the sun will help it to recover overnight, whilst your morning moisturiser will protect against all the things the world throws at you!
Keep hydrated
As moisture keeps our skin looking youthful, it makes sense that avoiding dehydration will help de-accentuate fine lines and wrinkles. One of the reasons your skin looks so wrinkled after alcohol consumption is because it’s been deprived of water, so it makes sense that this will also happen after a day in the sun.
If you’ve been in the sun, it’s likely that you’ll have expended body fluids (sweated) and you will need to replace these fluids. Make sure you’re drinking more than the recommended 2 litres a day if you are out in the sun, or you’ve been exercising.
Never forget the sunscreen
Sun damage is the primary reason for premature fine lines and wrinkles, and much of this comes about when you haven’t remembered to put sunscreen on. Sunscreen is your best friend against sun damage – think of it as a shield for your skin. High SPF sunscreen is extremely effective in stopping UV rays from being absorbed by your skin.
Use a vitamin C serum
Vitamin C is a bit of a hero. A powerful antioxidant it helps to stimulate collagen in your skin, and brightens your complexion, making it one of the best anti-ageing ingredients out there. If you spend a lot of time in the sun, using a vitamin C-based serum will help to soften wrinkles, and even slow their evolution.
If you’re yet to start using a vitamin C serum, we recommend taking a look at the Skinora doctor recommendations below to get you started.
